Back in 1995, a few bored teenagers decided to kill time on a lazy summer day by riding bikes to different locations throughout the Pikesville area to play basketball. The boys decided to call this Tour de Court.
Today, this event—now known widely as "TDC"—is an annual neighborhood basketball tournament played every summer in Baltimore, MD.
TDC has evolved from a 2-on-2 tournament to a 3-on-3 tournament. This year’s field will consist of 72 participants ranging from the adolescent to the middle aged. The hype and banter surrounding the event annually reunites everyone and make for a ridiculous and unforgettable summer day. The champions are bestowed with the prestigious Gold Helmet.
On June 17, 2018 we will be holding our 24th annual Tour de Court. In conjunction with this event, we are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma from taking more lives. For several years now, we have chosen this cause in honor of Rachel Minkove, who valiantly battled Hodgkin's lymphoma. Rachel may have left us physically in 2012, but her memory and fighting spirit lives on through this tournament.
Since the inception of our fundraising campaign, we are closing in on $200,000 raised for LLS. These funds have been earmarked for a Hodgkin's Lymphoma Research Portfolio that has been established in Rachel’s memory. The portfolio, listed in this year’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s National Annual Report as “Baltimore Tour de Court in memory of Rachel Minkove,” funds a wide range of research, including lab/bench, patient bedside, basic biology, translational research, and clinical trials.
With your help we we can bike past that number this year. To sponsor an individual participant, scroll down and click on his or her personal donation page. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. Please visit this site often and bring your friends.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere we thank you for your support!
